Dragon Warrior Monsters 2Breeding Help I had a question about breeding monsters in DWM2, Does a monster need to have the spell in it's spell list to pass it on? Or does it just need to have had a parent that had it to pass it on. I nearly broke my ankle running in here thinking this was an announcement ðŸ˜I played DQM2 for hours as a kid, I was obsessed! I was also a Pokemon fan, but always thought the breeding mechanics was so much more challenging and engaging in DQM than in Pokemon. The Joker series really refined all the great qualities of the Monster series, and made it even more enjoyable.I really hope with all the recent DQ attention here in the west, we get more Monster games.
Iru & Luca deserved a western release ðŸ˜. I did the same thing with the notebook!! I was obsessed with the Slime family, and kept this notebook with drawings of each and how to breed each! Before DQXI was released for the Switch I replayed DQM2 and made a breeding chart for Deathmore 3 - so detailed and pain staking but so rewarding to walk around with that beast!SE was mainly to blame for Joker 2's flop because I didn't even know it was released here in the west until I was very well deep into the life of the 3DS. I played it super late, and although I loved it, there was no way for me to know it existed until I ran into a reddit thread. It looks like Nintendo is more invested in the DQ series now than ever before, so I think the Switch will give DQ the boost it needs here in the west.
As far as we know, a new DQ Monsters is currently in production featuring Erik. There hasn't really been any news about it for quite a while though, so it's probably still in production.Right after the Switch ports of 1-3 got released, Japan also released DQM 1 Retro, which is basically just the gameboy color game ported directly to the Switch. No word on a Western release of that, but the Switch IS region free if you were feeling a hankering for some big/small screen action. There's also the chance that Monsters 2 will be ported soon, but maybe to smart phones. DQM1 got an updated port from the 3ds version to IOS/Android last year, (that remained Japan only, ofc) so who knows.
